The question, is there a proven cure for genital herpes, has been circulating for as long as people have been suffering from this sexually transmitted disease. The answer is always the same, not yet. There are, however, a lot of treatment options available for those who are suffering and with the right actions; a person suffering from genital herpes may live a full, normal life between their flare-ups.

There are several different treatment options available on the open market, which means over the counter, or through an individual doctor as a prescription. When these treatments are administered, they will help to alleviate the pain and discomfort most people feel with herpes eruptions.

Painful blisters or pimple like sores are the best description of genital herpes that will appear on a man or woman when they are experiencing a breakout. One person can pass the herpes virus to another during sexual intercourse either when they are having flare-ups or even when their symptoms are dormant. This is because the blister-like tell-tale signs of herpes may not be fully developed when a person is first breaking out.

There are many places to receive an answer to the question is there a proven cure for genital herpes. Some people will ask their doctor while other turn to the Internet and chat rooms to seek the right answer. Unfortunately the answer is always going to be there is no cure, but there are treatments that will help. Some of the drug companies will claim to have cured genital herpes, but what they have done is made the breakouts less. Scientists around the world are trying to come up with a cure for genital herpes; however they have yet to find the right mixture of medications.

Stress, fatigue, a poor diet and several other unhealthy lifestyles could contribute to a genital herpes breakout. Maintaining a healthy routine, avoiding too much alcohol, stress and using protection could help to bring the breakouts to a manageable number per month or year. As a person ages, their genital herpes breakouts lessen over time, however their severity may increase.

Ointments and creams are some of the typical treatments doctors will turn to first for genital herpes. But both of these are messy and greasy although they can be soothing to the painful blisters and rash. Pills are another option for treating genital herpes that will hit the virus from the inside out. The pills are typically a grouping of anti-inflammatory medication to help swelling, some anti-fungal to keep the lacerations from spreading and antibiotics to manage the virus as much as possible.

A treatment only works if it’s being used by the patient. If they are still asking their doctor, is there a proven cure for genital herpes and not having any success with their treatment, then they probably aren’t using it. A doctor may have to try several different forms to treat a patient’s genital herpes so that they are more comfortable.
