Is Yeast Infection Contagious To Everyone?

By Nancy Frankfutr

Is yeast infection contagious for everyone in contact with it? This infection can be highly communicable and can be transferred from one person to the next even by simple contact of the epidermis that is ripe for infection. Sexually transmitted, it can spread rapidly and cause problems to the partner or partners, especially if they had no idea how they contracted it or who was the origin of the contagion.

Some who does not have an idea on what is going on can leave the problem untreated or will resort to learning a yeast infection home remedy that is not very reliable. Some simply ignore logic and continue having sexual contact using condoms and spermicidal which can actually aggravate the situation.

The question most commonly asked in a gynaecologists clinic is “Is yeast infection contagious?” This infection is a common occurrence which not only attacks the genital areas but the skin surrounding it like the crotch, underarms, between the digits of the hands and feet, the mouth, it can attack anywhere. Sharing towels will definitely transfer the infection from one person to the next as the yeast thrives on moist surfaces like towels and skin.

Some people are mislead when they ask “Is yeast infection contagious even when under treatment with antifungals and antibiotics?” Again, the answer is affirmative. Yeast is a fungus and fungi are very tough. They can lie in a dormant state which is mistakenly assumed as the state where the yeast is eradicated. In truth, this is the time where continuous taking and application of the anti-fungal be made as this is the time which is critical to killing off the ‘root’ of the yeast.

Treatment for the infection for both women and men is easy enough. There are recognized home remedies as well as antibiotics which can speed up the process of treatment and make sure that the infection does not recur.

Another thing to consider is prevention. A lifestyle change is always indicated, practice of safe sex as well as getting the proper treatment at the right time. The question of ‘is yeast infection contagious’ may be elementary, but there is substance to it as it is always best to be concerned for others who may get infected along the way.
