Learn How To Get Rid Of A Yeast Infection The Right Way

By Nancy Frankfutr

Literally thousands of women would love to know how to get rid of a yeast infection quickly. With at least 75% of the female population affected by these infections on any given day, avoiding this infection is uppermost in the female mind. But really, the only way to get rid of this infection is to know how you contract one in the first place.

What I know of yeast infections is that a normally harmless yeast named Candida albicans grows uncontrolled at certain periods of time. That can come from a hormone flux during menstruation or pregnancy, and can be triggered by inadequate hygiene. Now, how to get rid of a yeast infection:

I’ve experienced the symptoms so often, I can just check them off in my head: the itch, the redness, the cheese-like discharge… thankfully, I’ve never had a bad-smelling discharge or a severe burning feeling when I urinate. But I always check in with my OB if it happens, since I want her to have a record of how many times I get it.

My OB just runs through a list with me – what kind of fungicidal suppositories or creams I’m going to use or if I should take oral fungicides this time. She reminds me not to keep wearing tight underwear and to watch my sugar intake before my menstruation comes around next time so I don’t need to keep asking how to get rid of a yeast infection so often.

If you would rather know yeast infection home remedy treatments instead, one of the best is to use yogurt twice daily, leaving it on for 15 minutes a day. Some women make their own yogurt vaginal suppositories by filling up the fingers of a disposable glove with yogurt and freezing it. Another home remedy that many women swear by is using clear gel capsules of garlic oil instead of commercial vaginal suppositories. These actually have some scientific backing to them, since both are known natural antifungal treatments.

However, it’s best that this condition doesn’t happen at all. One way to do this is to stay away from chemically based feminine products like vaginal deodorants and sprays. Because of their harsh formulations, the disturb the balanced acid mantle in the genitals, which gives the fungus the perfect environment to grow. The heavy smells of some sanitary pads, toilet paper, and tampons do the same thing. Also avoid scented, colored bath products if you are really prone to infections. So, do you still need to ask how to get rid of a yeast infection?
