A lot of men and women are hesitant to wear braces because when they think of orthodontic appliances they think of thick heavy metal placed around the teeth in order to straighten out one’s smile. But today many men and women wear invisalign braces, which are virtually invisible, so that their teeth are placed in proper alignment. These modern orthodontic appliances are neither unsightly or painful to wear.

Many men and women need braces because their bite is off center which can result in jaw pain and even deformity. The orthodontist can help straighten out teeth and improve smiles by closing gaps around the molars and incisors. The plastic retainers need to be changed and adjusted as the teeth shift into proper position but most patients experience little if any discomfort during the readjustments.

One of the biggest advantages of wearing plastic braces and tooth adjusting retainers is that the retainers are removable. This means that the wearer can remove the retainers before mealtime and before brushing. One of the most common complaints wearers of traditional braces express is that they have to adjust their chewing motion during the time they wear their metal braces.

People who wear traditional metal braces have to be careful of the foods they consume because it is difficult to properly brush when one’s mouth is full of metal braces. The person who consumes sugary foods is at extra risk because sugar accumulation can lead to tooth decay and dental carries if not properly removed.

Orthodontists constantly have to tell their patients to brush their teeth in an easy circular motion so as not to damage the metal appliances. But more often than not an over zealous patient will damage his metal appliance with his tooth brush which means more repair work for his orthodontist. There is no chance of damaging the modern plastic brace because the plastic brace is removed prior to brushing.

The good candidate, the person who should wear plastic retainers, is the person who is responsible and dedicated to wear the retainers consistently, that is throughout the day and nighttime. This means that the person who would benefit from these modern braces needs to have a measure of maturity and discipline to wear the plastic braces without being reminded. Teenagers are good candidates because many candidates are self conscious about their appearance but the teen needs to understand the importance of wearing the retainers without interruption.

People with sensitive gum lines are good candidates for modern plastic braces because the modern plastic brace cause less pressure on the gum in comparison to traditional metal braces. One of the primary complaints people who wear metal braces have is that their gum line is in constant pain. People who wear plastic invisible braces put up with a lot less pain and discomfort.

Invisalign teeth adjusting braces are virtually invisible because the braces are difficult to detect. These plastic braces are revolutionary because the braces can be removed before mealtimes and prior to brushing. These braces help improve one’s smile without causing pain or discomfort.
