Dental veneers are a thin layer of lining used to restore the surface of teeth. Dental veneers are used to protect teeth from damage, or either to improve the quality of its aesthetics. Veneers are fabricated by composite and porcelain. Dental technicians fabricate composite veneers in labs in order for them to be bonded onto teeth. Panavia is a resin cement that helps composites bond to the tooth. Contrarily, porcelain veneers can only be indirectly fabricated.

Charles Pincus is the California dentist who had the first idea of the veneer. Research was done, and found that porcelain could be etched with hydrofluoric acid to create a strong bond with teeth. Both composite and porcelain can permanently bond veneers to a tooth’s surface.

Cements are bonding substitutes in the dentistry industry today. They have a life span of about 10-30 years, if they are not destructed by cracks, chips, discoloration, or shrinking of the gums. Damage of teeth grinding will also appear if a replacement is needed. Veneers are priced relating to how experienced a dentist is, and how much labor is involved.

Veneers benefit cosmetic dentists because they use them for fractured teeth restoration, or a complete makeover. The resin can seal gaps that have been created between teeth, lengthen teeth, provide them color, shape, and symmetry, so they appear like they have been straightened.

It is not recommended that they are a quick fix for straightening teeth, especially for young people with healthy teeth. Most orthodontics find that practice quite disturbing. Ceramic resin and porcelain will not justify perfect dental cosmetics. Crowns used to be the result of fixing an imperfect tooth.

A diagnosis appointment with your dental provider will further help service you. The first visit is usually the consultation where your dentist decides on what will best fit your needs. The second service appointment will most likely be the cosmetic operation. It is very likely for your dentist to x-ray your mouth before the procedure, so that they can offer the patient the best results for operation.

To prepare for the veneer, an anesthetic will numb the designated area, and the orthodontist will remove about a half-inch (1/2) of enamel from the surface of your tooth. After constructing a model of your tooth, it will be sent off to a dental laboratory, so that the veneer can be made, and usually come back within a week’s return.

It is then placed on top of your tooth for adjustment, then bonded. It is trimmed to make a better fit on your teeth. Your teeth are cleaned, prepped, and sometimes polished so that the surface is rough. The roughness makes the teeth hold the bond tight. A cement is applied afterwards, then dried with light. All of the debris is cleaned from teeth after the process.

Veneers are a common for a patient that is losing density within their teeth, or that are growing older, and are having problems with their teeth deteriorating. Age plays a definite factor in teeth decay. The procedure is not as costly as most, and is known to be fulfilling.
