Natural Treatments For Hair Loss That Are Effective

By Mary Ann Stevens

Hair loss is a common problem that affects both men and women from all ages. The idea that hair loss is associated with aging is a thing in the past. These days, more and more people face this problem. It is important that you take proactive approach if you are worrying on excessive hair loss, receding hairline, or the appearance of a thin hair spot. One of the best things you can do to prevent hair loss is by preventing the condition to worsen or stop in on its tracks. Here are some of the available natural treatments for hair that you may want to consider:

Saw Palmetto – This is probably one of the most popular and highly effective treatments for hair loss. In fact, most of the natural products available in the market today contain about 90 percent of saw palmetto. Aside from its efficacy as one of the treatments for hair loss, it is also great in promoting prostrate health. However, it is important to note that this herbal product does have its share of side effects as well as interactions with other drugs. Pregnant women are advised not to use any product with saw palmetto as it can pose serious effects on unborn babies. Saw palmetto has also been proven to be not as effective among women.

Nettle Root is one of the widely used treatments for hair loss and is also used as a popular supplement in hair loss products. It works by blocking the 5-Alpha-Reductase, the culprit in causing the testosterone to convert to DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), a natural metabolite of the human body that is the main reason for hair loss. As compared to saw palmetto, nettle root is found to be more effective as a DHT blocker. But, like saw palmetto, nettle root has its side effects too and should not be used for people who have diabetes and high blood pressure.

Dong Quai – This is one of the treatments of hair loss that is known as another effective DHT blocker. This is because Dong Quai contains phytoestrogens that block the androgen receptor sites that is known to help in the conversion of testosterone to DHT. With this property, it has been viewed as one of the effective treatments of hair loss today and is found in a number of hair loss products in the market. But in the case of Dong Quai, it is more used among women.

While there are a number of natural treatments for hair loss readily available today, it is still important to seek medical and professional advice. This way, treatments for hair loss will be based on the underlying case of the condition and cut down the trial and error. Diet and genetics are among the most common causes of hair loss among men and women today, as well as us of certain medicines. Determine the cause of the problem to be able to come up with a good and effective approach on treatments for hair loss. For all you know, it may simply require a few lifestyle adjustments on your part. So be sure to have a qualified medical professional provide a thorough evaluation of your condition rather than simply buying any treatments for hair loss products available in the market today.
