New Parent Manual – Baby Skin Care Techniques

By Dyna Clouds

Baby skin care is more difficult than most people think. Keeping your baby’s skin clean and clear means taking care of his or her whole body. Newborn babies are very susceptible to skin conditions because it takes time for the skin to get used to life outside of the womb.

The best baby skin care involves parents making smart decisions all day. Everything from the soap you use in the bath to the clothes you put him into will affect the condition of your baby’s skin. Don’t stress out too much though: practicing good baby skin care does not have to be intricate or hard. With just a little bit of common sense it can be really simple. If you need some help figuring out just how to care for your baby’s skin, keep reading!

Don’t forget to dab some sunscreen on your baby’s face and ears when you take him outside. When you take the baby outside give him some extra protection by putting some zinc oxide on his face and ears. And remember: always have your baby wear a hat when he or she is outside in the sun! You can’t be too cautious! When you buy your baby new clothes, bedding or toys make sure to wash them in hypoallergenic and gentle detergent before letting them come into contact with the baby’s skin. Doing this helps cut down on the risk that the new clothes, toys or bedding will irritate your baby’s skin. This is one of things we continue to do as adults to make sure we protect our skin. Think about it for a second: when was the last time you wore a new shirt without washing it first?

Take care to protect your infant’s umbilical cord stump. Don’t pull it, rub it or play with it. Swab the stump with rubbing alcohol a few times a day. Other than that, leave it alone. Your level of care should be so high that you don’t even give the baby a real bath until after the stump has fallen off. Take care to keep the baby’s diaper away from the stump by folding down its top edge. It is important to give the stump the best care because it is incredibly sensitive and prone to infection. Talk to your pediatrician about the best way to care for the stump and the spot it leaves behind after it falls off.

There are plenty of ways to properly care for your baby’s skin and one best approach is to apply the guidelines from the hydroxatone review. There is more to proper baby skin care than plain baths. Proper baby skin care involves things like finding the right laundry soap, using the best sunscreen and letting the baby spend some time naked every day. Don’t worry too much; you will eventually become quite used to caring for your baby’s skin. Before you know what has happened all of this will be second nature!
