Official Dental Organizations

By Hannah Foster

The private sector became the target of one university research department and they needed to develop a plan that will allow them to convince some of these companies to invest in their cause. In another state an academic entrepreneurship conference paved the way for biotechnical research. An official organization like this one exists by state law for technological advancement. The state does not simply give such a distinction to any center without due process.

Any amount of money that comes from the million dollar state research fund should be matched by a member of the private sector working with the particular centers. Much attention was directed towards topics including dentistry and surgery as well as other concerns like drugs during a conference given together with a venture capital organization. Represented corporations that were involved in the conference reached a count of 50 and these companies were in the field of business venture, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnics. One aspect of the conference was to provide the different companies with an idea of the dental research being performed in the university including several reasons behind the studies.

They were not confident that the participants would act positively towards subjects that may be discussed but they were wrong. Through the conference various companies were introduced to the different dental products which they ended up liking very much. The conference, which was termed a roaring success, will be repeated in the coming years. The reason behind these kinds of gatherings is to generate as much interest as possible. He says that right now there are more than a dozen research contracts under way in his area, some of which are in the patent application process.

The world was able to gain highly reliable dental equipment as a result of research including the periotron which allowed dentists to diagnose and treat gingivitis and periodontal diseases by measuring crevicular fluid. Further studies resulted to the creation of miniaturized oxygen to measure how much oxygen existed in the periodontal pockets and there were also other tools meant for plaque control which made use of electrodes and ultraviolet light. Part of the studies showed how saliva can be a highly reliable source of information. Substances like alcohol are retained much longer in the saliva. We can measure glucose in the crevicular fluid to monitor diabetic patients.

Because a number of patients are continuing to live with diabetes and high blood pressure longer they complicate the treatment provided to them. Any kind of treatment that the body receives extends its effects to the other areas of the body and saliva flow almost always becomes susceptible to most medicines. A dry mouth can happen to quite a number of people as they reach the age of 55. It is common for these people to develop caries, malodor, and denture problems at this age too.

Both soft tissue and hard tissue play key roles in dentistry but caring for the soft tissue becomes possible when tools are further developed for such a purpose. Cavities are common problems that can affect a routine dental check up. Having zero cavities no longer amount to as much hoopla during dental check ups and patients are constantly learning more about other important elements like the gingiva and periodontia.

Time shared during a simple check up can easily form a bond between both sides. Limited options are offered to the dental field in their quest for significant development as there are different factors which come to weigh them down along the way.

Money matters almost always result to forms of competition among people. It is possible to obtain research funding from the government but take into consideration that the government has limited power over the money especially because it no longer increases as fast as it used to. Other factors that can be detrimental to the situation include inflation as well as aging equipment. It is not to be ignored that there are now more researchers who are demanding research funds. The same thing happened in the field of dentistry where they experienced fewer problems with cavities affecting patients right after a number of dental students graduated.
