By Leanne Amber

There are numerous ways you can look after your skin. A lot of people buy skin care products and visit their dermatologist. However, those aren’t the only ways you can ensure your skin’s health. There are other methods. The good news is that these methods are cheap and don’t involve using products with chemical substances in them. They can almost always be made from things you already have on hand and in your kitchen. Here are some of the skin care product recipes that you can make really easily all by yourself using ingredients you already have on hand.

If you’ve got oily skin, apply some strawberries to it. Strawberries have properties that make it a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

Did you know that with just water and basil, you can create your own acne tonic? Boil water in a saucepan. Take a couple of teaspoons of dried basil leaves and steep it in the water. Let the basil steep for 20 minutes. Remove the basil leaves when the water isn’t hot anymore and transfer the tonic in a clean container that has an air tight lid. Make sure you wash your face with warm water before using the tonic. Dip a cotton ball in the tonic and gently rub the cotton ball on the affected areas. You shouldn’t wash off the tonic. Let the skin absorb your tonic and pretty soon you’ll see the swelling and redness go down.

An amazingly simple way of treating acne is with the use of egg yolks. There’s no need to use other ingredients. Naturally, you shouldn’t try this recipe if you get an allergic reaction from eggs. Take the egg yolk from one egg. Make sure you whip the yolk until it’s frothy before applying it on your face. Leave it on your face for about 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. The yolk will shrink your skin pores and reduce your acne’s redness. What should you do with the egg white then? You can use it as a facial mask.

You want to mix the ingredients well so you get a consistent texture. Apply onto your face. Not only will it exfoliate your skin, it will hydrate it as well. Leave the mask on your face for 20 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water. When it comes to skin care, you can practice it without spending a lunch of money on commercial skin care products and treatments, which are all expensive. We’ve shared a few recipes for that in this article. A quick internet search will turn up plenty of others.
