It is vital to stretch muscles before you begin to work them hard. This gives them the opportunity to relax. When muscles are tight, tendons and ligaments are also tight. This makes your more prone to injury. Stretching also helps to improve muscle and joint flexibility. Remember to slowly stretch and do not bounce. When touching your toes, only reach as far as you can, without pain. Do not force it.
