Realistic Risers Toilet Seat Riser System: A Product Review
By Guest

Most people with limited mobility find some sort of toilet seat riser necessary. Using Velcro tabs Realistic Risers attach to the bottom of the toilet seat raising it either 2.25 or 3 inches depending on which set you purchase. The following review is of the 2.25 inch riser, which I purchased on eBay.
Made of durable PVC material the company claims a weight rating of 600 pounds. The risers are also supposed to be more stable than others. Tipping, flipping or popping off were the common problems I’ve had with other toilet seat risers I’ve used. As far as I can tell, the product does everything the company claims it should. The risers are sturdy and very sound; my seat does not wobble or tip in any way.
There are only two minor concerns I have about Realistic Risers; the Velcro tabs do not stick to the seat very well (I glued mine) and they are not compatible with integrated toilet seats. The positives, however, outshine the negatives; they are a breeze to install, they are simple to clean, they are sturdy and stable.
The patent holder and inventor’s daughter in law, Jan, sells Realistic Risers on eBay for $19.97. They are also available through Dr. Leonard’s magazine and Mile Kimball. I believe $19.97 is a very reasonable price, especially when I consider the cost of toilet seat risers I’ve purchased in the past.
In my opinion Realistic Risers are a wonderful product. Since I first installed them I have not worried about falling due to a wobbly seat. They are sturdy, inexpensive and user friendly, all they claim to be. If you use a power chair, I suggest going with the 3 inch riser. The 2.25 was fine for my manual chair, but my power chair sits a bit higher. I can still transfer, but I’m ordering the 3 inch to make it easier.
This product was purchased with my own money and the opinions stated above are my own and not influenced by monetary or material consideration.
