Regard For All Using California Health Insurance

By Bessie Johns

In today’s economy, there is a great deal of concern regarding health care. With people losing their jobs many have also lost their insurance coverage. California Health Insurance policies are included in this category. California has recognized, many years ago, that there was a need to provide medical care for people who could not afford to pay for insurance premiums. They passed laws requiring employers with more than twenty employees to provide this insurance. This was welcomed legislation by the employees.

Because of this health problem, California now has laws in place that make it mandatory for everyone to have some kind of coverage. All companies with twenty or more employees were required to provide them with insurance. With the large amount of unemployment and other financial problems, this became a problem as many people could not afford to purchase insurance. That is why California now has such a vast amount of health provisions for the uninsured.

California has a law that it is mandatory for everyone to have health insurance. Because of this law, those who cannot afford to pay premiums are covered, in some manner, by state health programs. This has become a very costly expense due to its large population and the current lack of employment.

The largest program in the state is Medi-Cal, which operates under the Department of Health Care Services. This program is designed to provide health care for low-income and people with disabilities. In addition, under Medi-Cal there are numerous programs for children services, drug abuse, mental illness and many others.

People who apply for this program must proved eligibility. With the current financial crisis, in two thousand nine a number of services were discontinued for those 21 years and older. The basic care provisions are still in place but dental and other services were cut.

There are strict regulations for insurance companies who work in the California. Anyone with pre-existing conditions, for example, can only be refused coverage for a specified amount of time. When that period is over they must provide insurance for the applicant. In addition, the law provides that a person who drops their insurance must be allowed to resume coverage.

Over the years there have been many different health bills introduced in the legislation. In 2005 there was a bill, similar to the new Federal Bill, that would have provided health coverage for every resident in the state. At the present time, there are many state health programs in effect for low-income Californians. California health insurance covers every aspect of medical care that might be needed by those who live little or no income.

Did you know that there is a very wide range of programs available for those in need of CA Health Insurance cover. Get the exclusive inside skinny now in our comprehensive California Health Insurance guide.
