Relief Treatments For Tinnitus

By Terry Rusty

There are a number of treatments for Tinnitus that can bring relief to the sufferer depending on the severity and the cause of ringing in their ears the success ratio can be rather high. Experts define Tinnitus as the sensation of hearing a ringing in your ears or the sound of rushing air with no known external source. In this article we will look at the three main treatments for Tinnitus.

Drug therapy and more specifically antibiotics are used in treating Tinnitus when there is an ear infection present. Infections can quickly spread and cause other health problems so make sure that you visit your doctors office when your ears start to ring.

If a ear infection is found the doctor will prescribe a ten day course of antibiotics that will hopefully solve both of the infection and the Tinnitus symptoms. If an ear infection is left untreated it can lead to permanent hearing loss, severe Tinnitus and possibly death. Once you have started taking the medication make sure you take all that is prescribed to you to insure the infection is truly gone.

Tinnitus maskers are a relief option for those that are dealing with ringing ears and in appearance they look a lot like a hearing aid. The masker will provide a more pleasant sound in your ears than the common noises associated with this disorder. A maskers success will be connected to the severity of the disorder.

A quick test to see if a Tinnitus masker will work in your case is to head over to the nearest sink and turn the water all of the way on. Now if all you are hearing is the rushing of the water than a masker may work in your case but if your ears are still dominated by the sounds of Tinnitus then we need to find another option.

The new kid on the block is Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and it has a large number of people who quickly shrug it off. Tinnitus Retraining Therapy combines the use of all common treatments for Tinnitus along with the use of cognitive therapy and audiologists. There is not a whole lot of research attached to this particular treatment option and due to the high price of it the people who can benefit from it is very small.

Tinnitus is a hearing disorder that leads to disruptions in life quality and may lead to permanent hearing loss. The relief treatments discussed in this article do work for some but a lot of people as of late are having great success using holistic methods such as the Tinnitus Miracle product that has a long list of happy people who have been cured from this disorder. I would advise you to check out all of the viable Tinnitus relief treatments options and pick the one that bests suits you.
