Simple Tips to Ease Ovarian Cyst Pain

By Mara Miller

Most women who have their menstrual cycle suffer from one level of ovarian cyst. Although most of them are not really a cause for concern, some are cancerous and need to be treated as quickly as possible.

Symptoms of this condition include a stabbing pain, usually at the lower back. There are medications that can help relieve the pain but there are some women who prefer the natural approach. Here are some natural ovarian cyst relief techniques.

The most common way to treat ovarian cysts is applying heat to the affected area. In most cases a heating pad will stop the pain almost instantly, and that’s why it is a good idea to always have one at home and may be even at work. But if you want to pamper yourself while relieving the pain, you can give yourself a long hot bath.

Also changing the way you eat is another recommended technique. There are certain food items that can intensify the pain and there are some that relieve the pain. Try to avoid spicy food as much as possible because of the certain chemicals present. Also avoid food that is rich on estrogen such as red meat, diary products and tomatoes. Lastly try to avoid food that contains iron. Cancer cells feed on iron this is why it is extremely important to avoid iron rich food.

The pain you experience from ovarian cyst is hard to deal with. However, the tips mentioned above will definitely help you lessen the pain drastically. If the pain is truly unbearable, talk to your doctor and ask for further techniques in relieving the pain. It might be a good idea taking over the counter meds for pain relief – If the doctor prescribes prescription pain medication, try to avoid taking it. As many times pain medication has addictive qualities and other unwanted side effects.

Simple functional ovarian cysts will not require any remedy. Most likely your doctor will tell you to take birth control pills and this in most cases solves the problem.
