Skin Care Is Key To Healthy Skin

By Brent McNutt

Healthy skin, is beautiful skin, and good skin is without a doubt the most important thing that you have. Skin that is healthy and vibrant is skin that will get you noticed. If you want to have good skin then you need to know how to take care of it. Proper skin care is easy if you know how to take the appropriate steps to keep you skin clean and protected. The first thing that you need to understand is that skin care starts with the cleaning process. The problem is that what most people think they are doing to keep their skin clean and healthy is actually harming their skin. They do not understand that the old ways of soap and hot water can lead to skin damage and premature aging. There are certain steps that you can take to make sure that your skin stays healthy and happy for a long time if you just show it the proper attention and special care it needs.

You need to start your skin care program with a gentle nondrying cleanser and luke warm water. You want to wash with a soft cloth and a exfoliating pad to get the best effect. When you are done washing rise well warm water followed by a cold water splash. Make sure that you dry you r skin with a soft cloth and pat it fry, never rub. If you use an astringent try to choose one without alcohol and use only a small amount. Men should follow up their routine with the use of a pre-shave product designed to reduce skin irritation and razor burn. Follow up with a non-greasy, hypoallergenic and non-comedogentic moisturizer which contains a natural moisture builder such as aloe or Shea butter. You should try to use one which contains a sun protection factor of at least 10.

When it comes to skin care for your body you should make sure that you are using a moisturizing body wash and that when you shower you do not use water that is too hot. The water should be just warm enough to be comfortable and relaxing, if you are sweating then your water is too hot. It is a good idea to also not shower for longer than is needed to relax and wash yourself effectively. The longer that you shower the more natural moisture that you remove from your skin. For men you may want to also make sure that you apply a small amount of conditioner to your chest and arm hair close to the end of your shower so keep that hair from becoming dry and brittle as this can be an irritant to your skin when your shirt rubs against your body through your day.

Now that your skin is clean make it happy by providing it with a moisturizer that is designed to hydrate slowly throughout the day. This is much better than a moisturizer that is absorbed quickly but is soon passed through the system and out of your skin. The best choice for moisturizers are those which contain time release microbeads. You should also make sure that you are applying and adequate amount of sun protection product in addition to any sun protection which may be included in the moisturizers or makeup that you are using.

The lifelong enjoyment of healthy and happy skin starts with proper skin care. Make sure that you take the time out of each day to care for your skin the right way and you wil be rewarded with many years of great looking skin in return.
