It’s common knowledge that a good night’s sleep is integral to anyone’s overall health. Unfortunately, many medical conditions can make the process of sleeping uncomfortable and challenging.
As a result, the bed wedge is often used to aid those in need of one. Bed wedges are slanted in nature, giving anyone using one the ability to sleep in an inclined position. While this might sound somewhat unconventional, there are many benefits that come with the territory.
Acid reflux is probably the most popular condition that a wedge or pillow of this nature might remedy. As you know, it’s all about the buildup of acids and gases throughout your body, and sleeping on your back or stomach does nothing to aid with this and causes much discomfort.
In using a bed wedge to help with acid reflux, anyone sleeping in an inclined position is unlikely to experience the pain and discomfort they may usually feel because of their acid reflux.
Since their body is in the raised position, the law of gravity will make it so that all acid stays where it originated, thus limiting the instance of any heartburn. Users of bed wedge pillows here really appreciate the benefits.
People with back pain also benefit from the use of a bed wedge. A memory foam bed wedge is particularly useful for anyone with a hiatal hernia, as it takes a load of pressure off the lower back and distributes the weight of one’s body evenly at night. Not only does it make the sleep experience easier, but the lack of strain at night will reduce pain felt during the day.
Sleeping in the upright position helps out greatly with this, easing or even eliminating all pain whatsoever. Try getting a pillow of this kind for your bed and you’ll likely sleep much easier at night.
