Snoring troubles everybody, not only the one who suffers from it. If the snorer sleeps in the same room as someone or other individuals, then it affects and annoys everyone who is within hearing.
If the snorers’ “victims” get an annoying and exhausting day-after, the snorers suffer a lot more in the long run. The condition can lead to circulatory problems, including high blood pressure and heart troubles.
Men make up most of the portion of snorers, although there are women and a really small number of children who likewise snore. The condition is also frequent among older people as their muscles deteriorate with age.
Sleeping on your side is the easiest way to repress snoring. This lets more conducive air flow to your airways. You can also try sleeping on your back as it also helps. However, this is not a lasting solution. Once you revert to sleeping on your back, then the snoring also returns.
You can elevate half of your mattress so that your head and torso are several inches higher than the rest of your body. Raising the upper half of your body can keep your tongue from blocking your airways.
Avoid drinking alcohol before you go to bed. Alcoholic drinks loosen your throat, which produces your tongue to fall back and block your air passages. Dairy products are also best avoided before bedtime because they can produce mucus that can form in your nose and throat.
Getting fit may just be the answer to your snoring problem. As mean as it appears, overweight people are said to be more prone to snores. Studies also say that smokers are more likely to snore than non-smokers.
Look into your medicine cabinet, you may find the culprit hiding in there. Some medications such as antihistamines and sleeping pills exacerbate snoring.
Many snorers turn to surgery as a last resort after trying each available solution. But before considering going under the knife, see first if you have sleep apnea. Snoring is a common sign of sleep apnea. Eliminating your snores doesn’t mean that you are also extinguishing the other.
