1. If you eat less than you burn, you will lose weight. Keep a record of your weight from week to week. If you aren’t losing, reduce your intake and increase your burn rate through exercise.

2. Gym membership is becoming increasingly popular, and, as long the exercise you do is well planned, it can be extremely beneficial. Aerobic exercise has to be the focal point of your plan, otherwise you could do more harm than good. Provided you adhere to this basic rule, some anaerobic weight or resistance training can help tone up your body. This will give you more strength and vitality, and should increase your confidence.

3. Consult with a dietitian. Going it alone and the time it takes to research nutrition and healthy diet is a tough job. Hook up with someone who has already done the work and you’ll save yourself a lot of time and trouble.

4. Get yourself a workout partner. It’s a lot harder to blow off going to the gym if you know someone else is there waiting for you. Not only that, but adding a social aspect to exercise makes it a lot more fun than doing it alone.

5. Eat more meals. Sounds counter-intuitive but small, frequent meals will result in less fat. Your body takes what it needs out of a meal, and saves the rest. Stop eating before you reach that point and you’ll ending up storing less under your belt.

The best and most effective method for weight loss does depend on the individual person, but anyone can follow these time tested principles and see results.
