The Best Way to Lose Weight? Get Out of The Diet Habit!

Have you been a serial dieter for years, have you ever imagined how blissful it would be to be able to give up diets forever, wouldn’t it? It’s amazing the number of people who spend a very large proportion of their lives going on a diet. Some of them may go on their own diets, but others regularly put their hands into their pockets and shell out money for the latest package of weight loss promises.
If somebody said to you that endless dieting was very bad for you, what would you say? Unfortunately, serial dieting does you absolutely no good, both physically and mentally.
The physical dimension? Each time you go on a diet you lose both fat and muscle. When the weight comes back again, it’s fat that comes back, not muscle. After going on several diets you will have reduced your muscle mass and increased the amount of fat on your body. You end up getting heavier.
As you get older, over the age of forty, you lose about 0.5 – 2% of your muscle mass every year. If you are a serial dieter and you are adding to this loss, you are going to end up with very little muscle. Your mobility in old age will be terrible. You will also find losing weight more and more difficult because muscle burns calories. No muscle means a compromised metabolism. Weight wise, you’re going nowhere!
The mental problems associated with serial dieting are all to do with constant failure. This manifests itself as a loss of self-confidence and self-esteem.
What is the best way to lose weight? Certainly not going on a diet! The best way is to learn new habits, slim habits. Slim habits help you to change your behavior. Until you change your behavior and get rid of all the bad habits that made you fat, you will never lose weight. Making change is the only way to lose weight effectively and permanently.
