The Proform StrideClimber -Two Machines In One

By Javier Massman

This fitness machine is not your typical elliptical trainer. That’s because you get to have an elliptical and a stair stepper in one compact machine. Stepping onto the Proform StrideClimber gives you that customary elliptic pedaling. However, it may be adjusted to give you horizontal or vertical leg movements.

Allowing you to easily move through the 10 different resistance levels is the Quick Resistance feat. By simply pressing a button on the console, you get smooth resistance transitions. There are a total of 6 integrated workout programs, to provide you with the challenge you’re looking for. They are heart-rate, weight-loss, aerobics and performance workout types.

Some of the most sought-after innovations in a home fitness equipment is found on the StrideClimber. It boasts of a fitness journal, which lets you record and keep track of your progress for up to 10 long years. Also, it supports the revolutionary iFit technology. Simply insert an iFit card (sold separately) containing the workout program of your choice. A voice will guide you just like a personal trainer, without actually hiring one.

The onboard sound system is capable of connecting to your MP3 player and playing your favorite songs aloud. Such will keep boredom at bay so your workout times can be more enjoyable. There are also extras that make your working out more comfortable. There’s a water bottle holder and an AutoBreeze cooling fan with 3 speed settings.

The target pacer innovation tells you whether you should slow down or speed up, depending on the workout program you pick. Such is done via an indicator lamp on the machine. Sensors built on the handgrips monitor your heart rate. Unfortunately, the machine fails to offer a heart rate chest strap. Some people find this feature essential, as it gives more precise heart rate readout.

For fitness buffs that are tall, the stride length measuring 18 inches can be a setback. And adding to this setback is the fact that it can’t be adjusted. Some counterparts come with longer stride lengths, even going longer than 20 or 30 inches. Also, there are models whose stride lengths can be adjusted to accommodate both tall and short users.

The Proform StrideClimber measures 59 inches long and 24 inches wide. For the price of one, you get two machines – an elliptical trainer and a stair stepper. This is a convenience for those who want two ways to workout in their homes. It’s a great way to save on money and space, while getting you in shape the way you like.
