There’s something much more important in the process of losing weight than the actual kilograms, pounds or ounces that you see on the scales. The measurement you should be focusing on is actually something you can’t get a reading on from scales. But it is something you need to understand before you will be able to consistently lose weight. It’s calories.

If you can get your calorie count into consistent deficit on a daily basis, meaning you eat less than you burn, you will lose weight. It’s just mathematics. And just a few calories under is all you need. In fact, if you are just 150 calories in deficit a day for a year you’ll lose almost 20 pounds.

The first stage of any weight loss program is working to reduce calorie intake. You need to cut down on the energy your body is taking in and storing as fat. Make the switch to diet products, wholemeal breads and home cooked meals today. This will give your program a huge boost and it’s easy to do. Just a little change each day will help you reach your goal quickly.

Once you’ve started to reduce your calorie intake you should also incorporate a program to increase your calorie burning. This is achieved by physical activity. You don’t need to join a gym, though this is a great way to lose weight fast. Just start walking, jogging or playing some games or sport. Almost any physical activity is going to burn lots of calories if you stay at it for 60 minutes or more.

The more knowledge and experience you gain in controlling your calories in and out the more you will start to make consistent food and activity choices. These choices will help you lose weight faster and faster until you’ve reached your ideal weight. It’s just a matter of time and you don’t need to stick to some slavish diet.
