Welch-Allyn Blood Pressure Cuff: Flexiport Makes You Flexible

By Roy Vandersang

The Welch-Allyn blood pressure cuff has been called a savior for healthcare since it pushes down costs while adds to the services being offered by the health and hospital institutions. Now there is no more need to sterilize arm cuffs or fiddle with tubes and connections, because the Flexiport cuff allows each patient to have a personal cuff that could fit to any machine throughout their whole stay.

The Welch-Allyn has long been recognized as a pioneer when it comes to hospital equipment, when they introduced the use of fiber-optics for medicine. Their latest innovative offering are the Flexiport Disposable or Reusable Welch-Allyn blood pressure cuff.

The hospital staff surely knows how to lower blood pressure quickly in case of emergencies and they are also aware that the hospital-issue reusable cuffs they must use also pose risk in contaminating the next patient with illness through bacterial infections. The beauty of the Welch-Allyn blood pressure cuff is that there is no more transfer risk since the cuff stays only with one patient, no matter which room they are brought to.

Patients don’t come in one size, unlike the generic cuffs that are available for use. But Welch-Allyn blood pressure cuffs have many sizes to fit the different patients, no matter if they are babies or full-grown adults. A snap-on Flexiport connection then permits it to be used with any monitoring machine anywhere in the institution. No matter what the machine and no matter what room the patients are in, they can still be used with the new Flexiport cuffs.

And because they are multi-use, they can cut costs very easily. Inventory is slashed by more than half and the need for specialized adapters disappears entirely. Inventory and parts costs are lessened, along with a nice side effect: the confusion that multiple parts can cause is lessened, too. Labor costs are lessened too, since it will take less caregivers less time to monitor more patients in the institution. There is less chance of damages also because there are fewer machines and parts traveling all over the building.

The Flexiport Welch-Allyn BP cuff is a terrific innovation that can again change the face of the healthcare system. Less stress on both the patients and the caregivers make the hospital a place of rest and recovery yet again. The Welch-Allyn blood pressure cuffs definitely have a big role to play in the near future.
