Acne is a major issue particularly for females as they sprout up without any warning and leave a lot of permanent scars. Irrespective of your hatred for it, acne can not be escaped by an average teenager and considerable care is required in order to remove these scars and stopping them from appearing again.

Acne is an infection caused due to the reaction of bacteria and excessive sebum released by the skin glands. During the healing process of this condition, a fibrous protein called collagen is generated. On the level of collagen going below normal, small depressions are created on the face and on its level being excessive, distinct protrusions appear. Both these cases result in acne scars. Teenagers are generally the worst affected from acne as the hormone levels increase during puberty resulting in more sebum discharge.

Some of the common reasons behind an acne infection are usage of beauty products that are not suitable for the skin type, intake of contraceptive pills and medicines, and other hereditary factors. Some of the lifestyle factors like stress, improper diet, and residing in a polluted locality can also result in acne. However, there is no conclusive proof behind the widespread misunderstanding that acne is caused by oily food.

Notwithstanding the variety of herbal skin-care products that claim to heal acne and that are being sold to consumers at different shops, it is advisable to get medical opinion if the condition gets worse or if it happens repeatedly. Abstaining from squeezing the lesion or poking it with any sharp object is a must to avoid aggravation of acne.

An increasing number of people are also resorting to cosmetic treatments to get rid of acne scars and to get back a skin free of scars and blemishes. Along with surgery and laser treatment that are among the most effective cures in making acne scars go away, there are a number of other innovative therapies too. You should take suggestions from a well known skin doctor who would be able to assess your skin type and suggest an effective remedy accordingly.
