What Supplements Do You Really Need?

By Vaughn Council

You can literally spend an entire day searching through all the nutritional supplements available for purchase. This vast abundance of choices is exactly what makes purchasing supplements so confusing. So I want to help cut through the fog. Here are three supplements that should be a part of everyone’s daily routine.

Always consult your doctor before you begin a supplement regimen. Even health promoting supplements such as these may possibly cause problems if you take certain medications or have certain health conditions. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. The following supplements will fill in the nutritional gaps for most of us.

Whey protein powder – This is the ideal form of protein to support and build muscle. It also requires large amounts of energy to digest. That results in a boost in your metabolism. As you probably know, a charged up metabolism burns more fat and calories than a sluggish metabolism. Whey protein is also rich in essential amino acids. These nutrients have many well documented health benefits. Be sure to purchase whey protein isolate as it is absorbed quickly and efficiently.

Krill oil – Krill oil is an excellent source of omega 3′s, which are linked to brain and heart health. There are also indications that omega 3′s may improve joint function. Krill oil is high in antioxidants. It has also been shown to reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. Think of it as supercharged fish oil.

Multi vitamin – Most of us know that insufficient vitamin intake can contribute to many diseases and sicknesses. But getting enough vitamins from our daily diet can be a daunting task. You may also find it tough to achieve your fitness goals if your intake is too low. In addition, low energy levels can also be a problem. Supplement your daily nutrition with a multivitamin. Select one that’s high in fruit and vegetable concentrates.

Taking these supplements can make a massive difference in how you look and feel. However, keep in mind that without healthy nutrition and exercise, your results will be very limited or even non-existent. Make your health a top priority. Doing so will result in you being happier, more productive, and saving lots of money on trips to the doctor and the pharmacy.
