How To Build A Storage Shed

By Terry Rusty

I went to a local big box store last month to take a look at storage sheds and to my surprise for four plastic walls and roof they wanted over a thousand dollars so I did what everyone does and typed “How to build a storage shed?” into Google and came across a great product. Now I am no master carpenter but with the detailed plans I was able to get online the project of the summer quickly became apparent. Now during this article I will show you what I learned and more importantly will show you how to save major money and build your own storage shed.

To buy this out building from a store is going to cost a whole lot of money but by taking the hammer and saw in hand you can save a boatload of cash by doing it yourself. Now instead of having a cheap plastic structure that looks like it will topple over in a strong breeze you can have a solid building that will last you for years to come. Next time your in a hardware store look at the price of their sheds than take a look at the cost of lumber and you will see why I chose the do it yourself path.

I am picky. I admit it and so does my wife so I did not just want your simple shed that it seems everyone has so I was looking for a bit of zip to my summer project. Thankfully My Shed Plans includes over ten thousand different plans so after a few hours of review and a number of rejections from the wife I finally found the right shed.

As I mentioned before I am not a master carpenter and lightning strikes the same place a lot more frequently than I can muster but with the carefully detailed plans from My Shed Plans heck even I could figure it out. After convincing my neighbor that he owed me a favor and allowed me access to his cool tools I was set to begin my summer project and build my own storage shed.

Well it turned out that my summer project was completed in just a few days and now I am the proud owner of a storage shed that looks like it cost me thousands but in reality cost a fraction of that. Now I have the shed that I wanted and most of the bragging rights go to My Shed Plans but I will gladly accept the accolades. So the decision is yours to either drop a thousand bucks on a piece of plastic or go the do it yourself route and build your own storage shed.
