There is a man who paints portraits of everything from alligators to parakeets to a prized black angus and this is growing into a highly specialized art business and a thriving one at that. He is so talented that he can paint a pet flea so long as there’s a fine quality picture of it. To date, he has confined his work to an alligator, rabbits, horses, birds, cats, and dogs.
His curiosity for creatures and creativity grew as he was growing up. But, as many an artist knows it’s pretty tough to make a living out of selling fine paintings, especially when one has to support a wife and youngster. He moved to the Bay Area and attempted to pursue a career in commercial art as he continued studying. He started his own display business in World War II and engaged in fine art as a hobby.
After he painted a pair of siamese cats owned by his friend his wife suggested that he develop his hobby into a business because even the cats were delighted enough that they purred and rubbed against the painting almost ruining it as a result. Considering his income from the pet portrait painting business this is somewhat astounding.
He launched his most current collection at the cow palace. From this he was able to receive countless requests for him to make portraits of fine show horses, a pet parakeet whose owner raised it from an egg, and also a champion rabbit. When it comes to a painting of his horse, this was requested by a famous television actor singer who was a recording artist too. He was appointed as well to create the painting of the prize winning black angus. What he said was that it was better than painting people portraits with the subjects not kicking most of the time.
Taking note of a big university in Santa Clara they have a new director of the gallery and museum and in San Jose she was the former director of a big museum and she took on the job a month ago succeeding a reverend who died early last month. Considering the new director she is a well known artist who exhibited nationally and locally at the palace of the legion of honor.
There is a local sculptor whose works will be exhibited at a gallery in San Francisco. When it comes to his works, thirty of them with neo classical to highly abstracted forms will be displayed. Conducting a ballet school is this highly talented artist who is a writer and photographer at the same time. There is a movie called spectre of a rose where he starred in. From a private collection will come more than 200 objects, paintings, prints, books, and sculptures that will be remaining on display for an extended period of time at a famous museum.
The collection of a couple from Pennsylvania covers a span of 50 years. Other than the scores of other historic greats it includes works from a dozen renowned painters. Interestingly enough, the husband began collecting books while still a student of Harvard, and expanded it over the years purchasing many of the more valuable objects on the installment plan.
