Creating Custom Rubber Stamps

By James Pynn_

Yes, few things manage to drum up the kind of enthusiasm custom rubber stamps do. Imagine stadiums filled with screaming fans, all of them clamoring to get their hands on a beautifully crafted stamp. Imagine the glare of flashbulb as your favorite celebrity poses with one on the red carpet. Imagine the cover of your weekly rags, all adorned with provocative picture of rubber stamps in precarious positions.

Now, stop imaging — and stop laughing. Sure, there’s not much inherently sexy or appealing about a rubber stamps. But, there is something about this stalwart piece of office furniture that makes it evergreen. This may have more to do with the fact that nothing quite replaces it. Not other office tool can do what a rubber stamp does. A quick dab of ink and then: voila! The stamp has done its sacred work. “Complete” or “Confidential” or “Denied” or “Approved” — the status options for a rubber stamp are only bound by your imagination.

Like the push pin or Post It note, the rubber stamp seems to always have a place in the workforce. While the Rolodex and planner have given way to the Internet cloud and mobile phones, there really is no way to improve on the un-improvable. Perhaps it is this singular calling, this one mission statement to stamp that makes it untouchable. A colored-ink pen just doesn’t convey the stenciled authority of a stamp. You can’t argue with a stamp. There’s no bargaining. It simply is.

Imagine something for a moment. Imagine, if you will, the authority and prestige a “Top Secret” stamp conveys. Now, imagine if someone simply hand-wrote “Top Secret” with a red pen. Which one conveys the power and mystique of clandestine agencies and Ken Follett novels? It’s a rhetorical question, mind you. But if you’re lucky enough to enjoy a position that gives you the authority to stamp documents or applications, you will be delighted to know you can still find a modern rubber stamp. You will be even more delighted to know that you can get the stamps you want customized with the word of your choice.

Given the fact that a rubber stamp may make some people pause, especially if they’re expecting something a bit more substantial, it is worth mentioning you should only give them to people you know will appreciate the sentiment. The people who can appreciate a rubber stamp may be few and far between, but we must stick together. Indeed, we must band together — a brotherhood of the stamp.

Think of the hipster chic of a set of custom rubber stamps. Yes, make sure you have a tube of Brylcreem on hand and a tweed sports coat!
