Tips On How To Improve Accuracy With A Sniper Rifle

By Mick Feller

Shooting rifles can be a safe and fun experience. One thing that you have to know, is that improving your accuracy is something that is done over time. There is a large number of mistakes that could decrease your accuracy.

It is recommended that you use a rifle with a low caliber to practice with. There are two big reasons for this. One reason to use a rifle with a small caliber is the fact that ammunition is going to be cheaper than larger rifles. The second big reason is because you will not be experiencing a huge recoil, and that can also decrease your accuracy because of anticipation for the recoil. Always remember when you are shooting to practice proper safety when using guns.

There are a lot of variables that come into play when you are trying to increase your accuracy for shooting a sniper rifle. One big variable that comes in to play, is the actual person who is shooting the rifle. You can have a highly tuned and accurate sniper rifle, but if the shooter has not been trained and does not have enough practice behind the gun, he can make a lot of mistakes. One mistake that a number of shooters make, especially beginners, is anticipating the recoil from the gun.

First thing you should do is find a number of printable targets that you will be using for your practice sessions. There are even some free targets that you can print that have instructions for how to correct mistakes depending on where the shot went. If you have the money to purchase a small caliber rifle like a 10/22, then it is highly recommended. These are fun rifles to shoot, and ammunition is extremely cheap.

Here’s a list of three things that you can do or purchase for your rifle to help increase the accuracy. Keep in mind, that these improvements are only going to help if you have acquired the correct practices and procedures to shoot your rifle accurately.

Purchasing the trigger with a lighter pull, triple checking to ensure your scope is properly aligned, and reloading your own bullets in optimizing the amount of grain used in each round. Reloading your own rounds can make a huge difference in your accuracy. You would be amazed to find out how accurate you can be after trying out different amounts of grain to use, and then testing and optimizing the round for your rifle. It is best that when you are practicing shooting targets that you are firing at a range of 100 yards, and you should adjust your scope accordingly to this distance.
