There are a lot of wonderful costume ideas from the 1960′s and 1970′s in TV and film series.

A great number of high quality TV shows and movies such as The Prisoner, The invaders, Marcus Welby MD, The Six Million Dollar Man, etc., have been produced during the 1960′s and the 1970′s. These series are an inexhaustible source of inspiration for anyone who is looking for a Halloween costume. One thing in particular about the 1960′s and the 1970′s is the fact that these two decades gave birth to the start of the science fiction genre in a big way. Hollywood produced anticipation movies such as Destination Moon, since the beginning of the cinema but during the 1960′s and the 1970′s two franchises in particular helped make science fiction movies a family genre.

The first one is Star Trek, the brainchild of Gene Roddenberry. Naturally, Star Trek has been extremely popular for things like the first interracial kiss and the travel across the galaxy in order to discover life on other planets, but it was also well known for the specific costumes worn by the crew of the unforgettable Starship Enterprise.

For instance, if you were a half-human, half-Vulcan Spock from this period of time, you would be wearing a uniform that involved a blue sweater, black trousers, black boots as well as pointy ears. That kind of clothing will be immediately recognized by anyone who liked the Star Trek series. As an alternative, Star Trek was also renowned for security officers wearing red shirts and whose only purpose was to be killed within minutes to demonstrate the dangerous missions of the team. This type of costume is surely highly original and easy to make at home and could earn you some laughs and cheers this upcoming Halloween.

Star Trek was not the only science fiction series to get its start during these two decades. Indeed, another popular series of movies was created during this time frame: Star Wars. Created by George Lucas and involving Jedi Knights, The Force and some of the more memorable characters to ever come out of science fiction, Star Wars was a totally different style than Star Trek. Here are great examples of Star Wars’ heroes of which you could model your costume after: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo and Darth Vader. On the other hand, there are imperial Starfleet soldiers, imperial army vehicle crewmen in silver uniforms and Chewbacca, a friend of Han Solo that anybody would recognize right away.

There are many different options in sixties and seventies science fiction TV or movie series for you to choose from, which makes these two decades a great source for Halloween costume ideas.
