How Is Going On A Cruise For A Summer Holiday?

By Jack Wogan

“It`s a beautiful day but I`m stuck inside”. The song belongs to Scouting for Girls and talk about the daily drudge. Becoming nostalgic especially in the sunny summer days is a clear sign that you need to go on a holiday. Going away for a day or two has become so important that even teddy bears are now allow to take some days off. At least this is what a respectable news agency, Reuters announces in one of its news. Teddy Tour Lapland Oy offers exclusive holidays to teddy bears, taking them ice fishing, to Santa where they can feed his reindeers and giving them a well-deserved mug of hot chocolate. And since holidays are a serious business, children, grown-ups and living pets are not allowed on the excursions. Some may find the idea of spending anywhere near 190 euros on a holiday for a teddy bear somewhat annoying, especially in these times of trial. They prefer, and quite rightfully so to spend the money on themselves.

But enough about stuffed toys. Teddy bears are not the only ones which need to take a break. And the thought of spending anywhere between 170 to 260 euros on a holiday for what grown-ups would rightfully call a “thing” may be upsetting for some. Admittedly a holiday needs to feel different than an ordinary day at home. And nothing spells a clear break from the everyday life than cruising.
The only disadvantage about a cruise ship is that you will be spending most of your time with the same set of people. If you can get around this inconvenient then cruising has great advantages as well. An all-inclusive one offers a perfect way to saving money since everything is already taken care of: food, beverages and entertainment. And you also have a lovely crew to cater for most of your needs.

Because some cruises are very strict about the dress code, people tend not to be very keen on cruising. They associate them with the rules or the constraints they are trying to get way from. The solution to that would be a freestyle cruise which does not have set dinner times or a black tie requirement and offers a range of entertainment activities to please everyone. In short they give more flexibility and freedom to their passengers.

Opting for a holiday on a ship does not mean you forget about the basic precautions. The health insurance remains a must just like a valid passport if you travel to locations that require one. Make sure you pick the cabin closest to the middle of the ship so that you will not feel the motions so hard. Having a separate casino budget would also be a wise move. Gambling may be frowned upon but they are great fun and it would be a shame to pass them by if they are on offer aboard.

If a cruise ship does not cut it for you and you are also on a tight budget, then you can just play the stranger in a city where you have never been before. It is great fun and city holidays are back in fashion. The hotel itself can be itself an adventure.

For instance, the Crown Amersham is one of Marlow Hotels which can offer you the genuine experience of a traditional English Inn.
