Making The Most Out Of Your Trip To India

By Guest

Cheap flights to Asia have been one of the primary contributors to the massive influx of tourists to this continent and particularly to the Indian subcontinent. The rich diversity of India has made it the perfect holiday destination – from the snowy Himalayas to the sunny coastal towns to the busy modern metropolis of Mumbai, India indeed has a lot to offer geographically and culturally.

Speak of India today and one of the first things people associate the country with is the industrial and technological development that has put India on the world map. Here, you will find facilities which are on a par with the best in the world. Yet, even in the face of such rapid development, the country has still protected its culture and the things that have made India a nation with one of the world’s richest histories.

Many aspects of the Indian landscape and tradition have remained unchanged over the years. The sari is still the dress of choice among women and traditional food is flavoured with exotic spices. The cheap flights to India are just the crown of what will always be a trip to remember for years to come.

There are a good number of major cities and popular holiday destinations to discover in India such as Goa and Kerala.

Kerala is in the southern part of India and is renowned for its ‘greenness’, breathtaking mountains and its beaches. Goa on the other hand has a more European touch to it with a good amount of Mediterranean history still influencing the way of life today. But that has not taken its authentic Indian feel.

The food in Kerala boasts a wide variety of curries and is often flavoured with coconut milk. Goa cuisine usually includes fish, rice and of course curry. But these two represent just a fraction of the range of tasty meals you can expect to find in this 1 billion plus nation.

Indian history may be divided into a number of phases: the Ancient India period, the medieval period, and the years of the Company (the colonial period) and the struggle for independence. Each period has events that have shaped the Indian nation as we know it today. With the ancient India civilization going back over 4000 years ago, it is indeed one of the oldest cultures in the world.

One of the things you will notice about India is the central role that religion plays. Hinduism and Buddhism are two of the most dominant faiths even though other major world religions such as Islam, Sikhism and Christianity have significant adherents here too.
