As soon as the name Las Vegas is mentioned we all automatically think of it being a town full of casinos. Yet when you do visit this city which is of course is world renowned for its gambling you will find that there are plenty of other great things to do and see. In this article we take a look at some of the others things happening in this city in relation to what happens in Las Vegas hotels.

When visiting Las Vegas why not take a trip over to New York-New York and ride the roller coaster. But this isn’t just any ordinary roller coaster in fact it is very hard to miss as not only does it run around the exterior of this hotel but actually through it. Since its debut in January 1997 this roller coaster sees over 1 million visitors experience its thrills every year.

The ride itself starts with a steep hill helping to build the suspense and anticipation. Then as the ride heads out of the hotel try to take in the aerial view provided of the Las Vegas strip from the south end if you can. As before you realize it then you will begin to plummet down the 144 foot drop. The intensity of this right continues as you make your way through various loops, corkscrews and hills. The ride is also able to reach a maximum speed of 67 mph further making this a very exhilarating ride indeed.

Another place to go when you want to see what happens in Las Vegas hotels other than gambling is the MGM Grand. This hotel has within it a feature that has become increasingly popular over the years. The Lion Habitat which cost $9 million to build allows you to see up close African Lions enjoying themselves and who remain the logo for MGM.

But be prepared as you won’t see the same set of lions here every day as each day they arrange to change them over with other sets. When not at the hotel the lions remain out at the 8.5 acre ranch that is located just 12 miles from it.

If however you want to do something even more exciting that view lions or ride a roller coaster then head of the Stratosphere. Here you have the opportunity to do a Sky jump. It is very similar in many ways to sky diving but your free fall is actually controlled.

After taking a trip up to the 108th floor of the Stratosphere Tower you will then be asked to don the requisite safety clothing and gear. Once ready the harness you wear is attached to a vertical zip line then as you leave the platform you take a very fast and exhilarating ride from this floor down towards the ground to land on a mat below. Speeds reached as you descend can sometimes reach 40mph and the breeze felt is something that you are unlikely to feel anywhere else.
