Why you should try horse riding in Fuerteventura
By Dolly Hepner
Of the seven different major Canary Islands Fuerteventura is the second biggest and because it is the closest Canary Island to the coast of Africa it also boasts some of the hottest temperatures in Europe. There is plenty for people to do on Fuerteventura including enjoying the numerous beaches and breath-taking scenery as well as visiting the many small towns. Fuerteventura has something for everyone to try but one thing that most people enjoy is Fuerteventura’s horse riding.
There are a few different horse riding schools which are spread around Fuerteventura all of which offer excursions for people of all different levels of horse riding experience. The schools in Fuerteventura are excellent and for those who haven’t tried horse riding before it offers the perfect place to learn. Beginners can go take things steadily and everything needed is included in the cost.
After a little bit of horse riding training or for people who are already competent on horses there is the opportunity to see Fuerteventura by horse-back for a little while. Horses can reach places where cars can’t and where only very fit people should consider going by foot. Spending an evening riding along the coast as the sun is setting is something everyone will remember for a very long time afterwards.
Getting out and about on a horse also gives people the perfect opportunity to work on that perfect holiday tan instead of timing yourself whilst lying next to the pool so as not to tan the back more than the front. Getting high up on a horse really helps people to get a nice even tan whilst doing something which everyone should try at some point.
A day spent horse riding across the terrain will be one that is remembered for a long time. The horses are extremely well trained and very friendly and most people come away having forged a bond with their horse. Whilst out exploring you can also take time out to have some food, drink and put your feet up for a while before hopping back on and heading back.
