A Look At Solar Pool Blankets

By Andrew Murray

You have your pool filter, heater, and even some flotation devices for the kids. But don’t forget a solar pool blanket, which makes the time spent in the pool more fun by keeping the water warmer. Solar blankets are perfect for families who like going swimming frequently, since they enable you to keep the pool in use for a lengthier amount of time every year.

A solar blanket rests over the pool and traps heat from the sun, so you can heat the water naturally. You can even swim throughout the autumn as the sun will maintain the water at a pleasant degree of warmth. Another benefit of these products is that they are generally much more cost-effective than an electrical heating system.

There are a number of different kinds of blankets that you can find for your pool, but the best quality products are manufactured from resin, which is water resistant. The blanket will feature small pouches that are intended to trap debris and particles that could otherwise wind up in your swimming pool.

It’s also possible to buy solar pool blankets that have aluminum added to them. The aluminum serves as a conductor of heat, which means that the water gets warmer more quickly, and is kept warmer for an extended time period. This is ideal if you own a more modest pool and want to use it as a hot tub on occasion.

Though most pool blankets are various shades of blue (to complement the color of the water), transparent diamond blankets are a relatively recent trend which might be more effective for a bigger swimming pool. The air pouches contained in this type of blanket are diamond-shaped as opposed to the circular ones seen in the majority of the others. Therefore the process of capturing and retaining heat is quicker and more efficient.

If you own a smaller pool, you might want to consider purchasing solar sun rings. These are more compact than solar pool blankets, and you might want to get several for best results. They’re a terrific supplement to your existing swimming pool heater.

Inflatable pools are much more affordable than an inground pool, and even a lot of above ground pools available these days. Whether you’re looking for a splash pool or something bigger for the whole family, click here to read some inflatable pool reviews before you shop.
