A Look At The American Walking Pony

What really increased this pony’s popularity, was the American walking pony’s appearance in several well known magazines. It is known for having a few distinctive gaits that are not seen in other breeds. It actually has seven different gaits, and is known for being popular in horse competitions and shows.

The American walking pony is actually a combination of traits from the Tennessee Walking Horse and the Welsh pony, and the horse enthusiast will notice the characteristics from them both. The horse has characteristics most equestrian type people will notice right away, it has the beautifully shaped head of the Welsh pony and the wonderful stride of the Tennessee Walker. It comes in many different colors as well.

This particular breed of horse is especially beautiful and not only is great for riding, with its distinctive gait, but it is a wonderful competitor for jumping and competitions.

This horse breed has the trait of being a great listener, is one of the qualities of the American walking pony. To be able to learn new techniques and commands quickly is very refreshing to the rider of the horse. This horse has emerged during the past century making it a relatively new horse breed.

This horse breed attracts so many horse enthusiasts. Some have said that it is the most beautiful breed of horse in existence. Three casual trots characterize this horse which is around 14 hands tall: the Canter, the Merry Walk, and the Pleasure Walk.
