Bamboo Flooring Options And Choices

Sometimes while home decorating it may get a bit confusing understanding different types of bamboo flooring. Nowadays there are many types of bamboo flooring considered in modern interior design. If you look at bamboo by itself, you will find that it comes in vertical or horizontal construction. Carbonized and natural were the first two colors constituted. The pieces are taken one by one and laid vertically on one another before being glued to each other. A very fine grained linear look is provided to the flooring with vertical bamboo construction. In a large range of colors and all the standard finishes vertical boards are also available. For maximum stability in solid horizontal grain construction, layers of bamboo are laid at right angles. It is from this construction that the term horizontal bamboo flooring is derived. Noting the factory lengths is worthwhile while considering the option.

Engineered Bamboo floors: Generally these home decorating floors are not made entirely of bamboo, unlike horizontal and vertical bamboo constructions. More often they consist of a sand able bamboo wear layer on top of a pine backing. In most cases they offer more stability and are also available in vertical and horizontal grain types.

As interior design engineered products, very often they come in ply thicknesses between 5 to 8 ply. The product is dimensionally stable due to the extra piles. If you want the most solid bamboo products, investigate the thickness of 3 ply. Other woods like pine are compressed in engineered bamboo flooring.
