If there is someone in the household who suffers from a breathing disorder such as asthma, bronchitis, or emphysema, the importance of duct cleaning cannot be over emphasized. Airborne particles that collect within the air vents can enter the air and the inhabitants of the home can breathe in the particles and have an allergic reaction. For the asthmatic, an allergic reaction could mean a trip to the hospital emergency room or urgent care clinic.

In some cases an anti mold agent will be applied to the vents to keep mold from forming. If there is a pungent odor released when the air conditioner or heater is operating, then there is a chance that there is mold in the vents. The anti-mold agent will kill mold residue and keep moisture from creating mold spores.

If chemicals are used to clean the vents, the chemicals should be safe for the environment and safe for humans and pets. Some vent cleaning companies recommend using a chemical that kills microbiological particles but is safe for humans. Still, these chemicals should be used with caution and only the minimum amount for effective cleaning should be applied.

Many people suffer from airborne allergies and are not aware that the problem originates in their ventilation system. Many people take anti-histamines and decongestants throughout the year thinking that allergens from outside their home are causing their breathing problems when in fact the problem is in their home. This is why it is important to clean out vents of dust and debris because dirt and debris are well known allergens that can cause multiple respiratory problems.

Some homeowners try to clean the air ducts in their home but unless special equipment is used, the vents cannot be properly cleaned. It is best to call a professional who is certified in home vent servicing who warranties his work. Never hire a non-certified vent specialist. The professional will inspect the complete vent system to make sure that there are no dirt or debris pockets.

The professional uses the proper equipment and will warranty his work. Even a new home should undergo a vent servicing because the construction process creates a lot of dust and debris that can collect in a new vent and will be blown into the air once the new air unit is turned on. A new vent system that is dirty can be just as harmful to one with a respiratory disorder as a dirty old vent system.

Those who are looking for ways to lower their utility expenses should consider having their ventilation system serviced. Dirty vents causes air conditioners and heaters to work harder and thereby increases the utility bill. Dirt free vents can help extend the life of the heating and cooling system because the system works more efficiently.

Many new homes are insulated to keep hot air out in the summer and cold air out in the winter. But, insulation also keeps air trapped indoors and if the vents are spewing out dirty air, this can present a health hazard. The importance of duct cleaning cannot be overstated. Dirty vents can cause allergic reactions, such as asthma attacks and can cause the heating and cooling system to work harder than necessary.

Air duct cleaning has never been easier thanks to these manufacturers of insulation blowing machines and duct cleaning equipment. Heat Seal Equipment Ltd 530 Westney Rd S, Ajax, ON L1S 6W3 (905) 683-9223
