Ensuring The Well Being Of Your Pool

By Gary Newman

Here are ways to clean that dirty murky and green swimming pool.

1. Ensure that you have a good water flow. Make it a point to clean your filters and or baskets.

2. Keep an eye on the water pH level. The higher the alkalinity of the water is, the more prone it becomes to algae.

3. The use of algaecides is practical for any pool owners. Highly chlorinated algaecides can kill algae and some bacteria in a shock. Pool shocking should be at least done once in a week to maintain your pool’s condition.

4. Check on your filters from time to time for an entire day, to watch out for dead algae build-up as they get stuck in the filter after chlorine treatment. If it feels like that’s not all the algae there is in the water to kill, then you can further the chlorine treatment until such time all of the algae are killed.

5. After this, make use of pool vacuums to suction the dead algae on the floor and then you can clean your filter after. Just keep on going on cleaning the filter until you will obviously notice that the water is clear.

Another way to deal with pool cleaning is by using cartridge filters. They are effective in cleaning the pool as well. Here are ways how to:

1. Still use algaecides to terminate the algae.

2. Convolute all of the gathered dead algae into clumps to be later dumped. This can be done by using a spray coagulator to be attached into a garden hose. Spray this on your pool and have it treated overnight. By tomorrow clumps of dead algae will float in the water ready for you to skim and pick up.

3. Later, add diatomaceous earth (DE) into the filters. DE are proven to be very effective in filtering out dirt even in the smallest proportions sizing from 2-5 microns. This will definitely sift out even the smallest of algae and larger bacteria.

4. Switch on the vacuum and have it run with a pressure exceeding 35. You can then clean afterwards.

5. Repeat step 4 if necessary. It is important to achieve the ultimate goal which is to turn your murky pool into crystal clear again.

The abovementioned steps are really effective and you don’t have to waste pool water at all. But as always, prevention is king. Here are some tips to maintain your pool’s wellness.

1. Chlorine levels of the pool should be at a considerable level. Enough to kill algae that could possible inhabit in your pool.

2. Cartridge filters are not that durable. Make sure to buy new ones after a pool cleaning.
