The first thing to do to help a dog to achieve their optimal weight is to purchase and feed them high quality dry food. There are great dry dog foods that have been made for overweight and underweight animals.

Obese and skinny dogs both need to exercise daily. Obese dogs need to exercise to burn calories and up their energy level. Skinny dogs need to go on walks to help to keep them happy. Dogs can suffer from depression and stop eating. Exercise helps with this issue. Skinny dogs may be able to get loose on a walk if their dog collar with dog breed ribbon is not tight enough. Check the collar when you put on their leash.

If there has been a traumatic experience in your pet’s recent past, this may affect their health and diet. Dog owners should keep their pet busy with exercise, socialization and fun.
