It’s almost time to spend the summer fun in your cabin for the much-awaited summer break. Before packing your bags and planning your family’s itinerary, start by redecorating your cabin for the ultimate summer get-away.

Begin by giving your cabin a thorough cleaning. Open the windows and let the fresh air circulate through your space. Next, evaluate your furniture to see if you need to make changes. If you have a two or three room cabin, and don’t have a lot of room, sleeper sofas will give you more sleeping accommodations, and they come in all sizes these days. You can get sofas and oversized chairs in new materials called microfiber which is stain resistant and easy to clean.

Most cabins are made out of logs and are usually pretty light colored on the inside walls if they are left natural. You may want to add color in greens or reds or even blues as those are great colors for the woodsy lake cabin. If you live with a hunter you may have some kind of mounted animal head hanging in the cabin. It could be over the fireplace mantle which is a great place for it to be hanging.

Wooden furnishings are no strangers to a cabin home. Don’t worry about the rustic look of a wooden dining table, chairs and coffee table. They fit right home in such a place. You can add some elements of modern design if you wish by inserting trendy pieces like colorful beanbags, sleek stools or chairs, a stuffy oversized chair to place in rooms and a glass-cased cabinet for storing books and other knick-knacks.

The floor is also made of wood. Quite tough on the feet, isn’t it? Not to mention prone to discomfort when sitting or lying on the floor. The best solution is to put area rugs, especially on spots you often use. Choose rugs with a thick and lush fabric. The area rugs will also help soften the look of the typical rustic cabin.

Curtains also help in improving the interiors of a cabin. If you want a contemporary minimalist look, go for light colors, even whites and beige in plain design. The country style on the other hand, is more on prints and bright colors. Classic design meanwhile makes use of thicker fabric and darker colors. However, this is better for a cooler climate. You would want an airy room for the summer for a more comfortable stay in your cabin.

Take advantage too of the abundance of flowers this season. Decorate fresh flowers placed in nice pots and vases. Place a wicker chair in the porch and an area rug under it for a homier feel. Perfect for spending an idle time during the warm summer afternoons.

Doesn’t summer get more exciting with the thought of staying in a beautiful summer home? Make your cabin a welcoming respite for a more enjoyable stay.

Keep up with current Home Design styles and enhance your home with indoor outdoor rugs.
