Solving The Most Common Acrylic Concrete Sealer Complication

Acrylic concrete sealer has two basic forms namely the solvent and the water based formulations. This is specially useful for project structures that do not demand much effort and costs that are mostly economical. They are applicable both inside and outside surface of the structures for protection of against all types of intrusions. It does not turn yellow which makes it applicable.

There are various applications of concrete sealers. There are exterior surfaces which provide firm protection against the different substances like chlorine or simply water. They can be applied to interior surface for protection and enhancement of color. They are also good to apply in fast projects because they do easily dry within an hour.

Acrylics are much thinner than any other types of sealers and coatings. It is expected that it will wear faster and usually require reapplication after. To give you an idea of what type of acrylics that is good to be used, solvent based is known to perform better and enhances the color than its counter part, the water based.

Additionally, in terms of indoor surfaces, acrylic sealers usually require intense maintenance with series of coats for a floor finish in order to avoid any types of marks. It can be applied easily by using pump up roller or sprayer. It is essential however to put them in thin coats to avoid the problem of fracturing.

To give you an idea of the main problem experienced by various contractors, you need to understand that concrete sealers do have various complications because of the way it is applied. It happens many times that the outcome does not perform as it is in the mind of the contractor. The common reason is over application or multiple coats at a time.

Sealer bubbled is a common term for all contractors. The main reason is again because of over application of the sealers. They will soon turn out to be popped bubbles when they are not given attention immediately. Thin coats must always be done to ensure a high quality concrete sealers and for the surface to look emanating as well.

Bear in mind the appropriate estimation of a coat that should be five mils in thickness when it is wet and absolutely two mils thick when dry. For visual comparison, always compare the thickness of a sheet of copy paper and an ATM card. Do not apply heavy coats because it will certainly leave bubbles on the texture of the surface.

Concrete sealers are usually applied in two thin coats. The first coat will acts like a starter, it will soon disappear on the surface which will surely look unattractive. The second coat will give the finish work, enhancement of color and glow. You must follow the specifications of the manufacturer to successfully do it. Though it will require you to apply more time and to be more patient to apply thin coats instead of just one heavy coat, it is best to follow it.

Bubbling in acrylic concrete sealer can also occur when it is applied during hot weather or if under direct sun. In these conditions, the sealers will dry immediately before all the solvent has evaporated. Again carefully follow the recommendations of the manufacturer regarding the coverage rate. Two thin coats must be done and not a single heavy coat.
