Leaded glass Tiffany style lamps are often referred to by people as Tiffany lamps. But a genuine Tiffany lamp is the one manufactured in Louis Comfort Tiffanys workshop. Tiffany was the son of the man who founded Tiffany and Company in 57th St., New York.

Tiffany was a painter who later was interested in making fine decorative arts. He did this in his factories starting in the late 1880s. His name is usually mentioned in connection with leaded decorative lamps, which he did produce.

Although, he also produced great bronze pieces like candlesticks, desk sets, glass mosaics and leaded glass windows. Tiffanys original lamps are sold at such ridiculously high prices. Blame history for that.

The Tiffany Company made different types of lamps. They came up with leaded glass lamps in floral and geometric patterns that included table lamps, floor lamps, and chandeliers. The leaded lamps were initially done with glass that Tiffany did not make himself.

As the business was transformed, Tiffany produced his own glass which was better than anything else available at the time and very innovative. The Tiffany style lamps turned out to be the companys most successful venture. The individual lamps values depend on model type and quality of glass.

The rather simple lamps in the shape of an acorn, for instance sell for far less than complicated designs of dragonflies or wisteria. There is more interest in floral lamps now than on geometric lamps. It goes without saying that florals sell for far more than other designs.

Size matters when it comes to Tiffany lamps. The biggest lamps are some of the most costly, especially for those done in the same form. A 20-inch dragonfly lamp will sell for more money than an 18-inch one. Tiffany still used glass from companies other than his own like Kokomo Glass Co., but Tiffany style lamps made of studio glass were still more expensive.

Tiffany Style Lamps are wonderful designs derived from the Tiffany Lamps manufactured by Louis Tiffany in the late 1800s. Today, they have been produced massively to suit the taste and preference of many people. Having these types of lighting will definitely add glamour to your home or office.
