How To Select Personalized Wind Chimes

By Max Manning

If you live in a breezy area, it’s a good idea to hang chimes on your doorway or window. Wind chimes are also called aeolian chimes. The early models were made of bulky bells clashing together to create sound. When there’s air movement, the bells are blown together, creating a melody.

A lot of people buy chimes so that they can be lulled to sleep by the soothing melody. Some people buy chimes as a part of Feng Sui principles. Chimes are also great for attracting good vibes in your garden.

Wind chimes have since become the best gift items to send family and friends. Here are a few tips on choosing which types of chimes to send as gifts.

Mind the Design

You will see chimes of various designs and themes in specialty shops. There are some chimes that also serve as home security features. There’s no need to “settle for” a chime design because there are thousands of designs available to choose from. And, if you can’t find a wind chime that speaks to your artistic sensibilities, you can always have one custom-made or personalized for you.

My favorite is the angel chime. Angel chimes remind me of seraphims singing praises from up above as a wind passes by. But you can also choose to have the floral ones, or the ones with shells on them. At the end of the day, your chime’s design should match your general home decor.

Material of Your Chimes

The way the music from the chimes affect you may have a lot to do with the materials. Metal chimes give a clear, ringing tone. Personally, I’d get a bamboo chime for the patio. A metal chime should be on the door. You may want chime materials that are very beautiful but don’t make a lot of noise..

How to Get Personalized Chimes

If you have materials that would look and sound great on a wind chime, you can simply ask an artist to craft one for you using your materials. If you’re a do-it-yourself kind of person, you can create your own chimes. If you check your local shops there should be a chime set that you can tinker with yourself. You can use metal letters that spell out your name instead of bells. You can also emboss your name on the bar that keeps the chimes together.
