Kids Learn From Their Parents By Watching

As your children get older, there will always be new issues that will arise. What makes it more interesting is that sometimes you feel like you are having the same experiences as your children. Just going to school will be a whole new experience for your children, but then they will discover even more opportunities in each new grade. Kids always want to be older than they really are, but you need to help prepare them for the challenges they will face as they mature. All children are different and will handle leaving home in various ways. So, there are definite approaches you can take to help your child cope in a positive way with new challenges.

Complications exist in a family when there is only one child, but rapidly increases as you have more children. An important topic to discuss is children being singled out by parents as favorite, or even least favorite. Having an instant like for one child over another is not uncommon, so it will take some effort not to show favoritism.

Most children are followers, and the first people they follow are the parents. Children are good at learning what they can get out of which parent. Imitation of others is what children do best, so if you are the person who is mainly with your children, they will copy a lot of your behaviors. It is too bad that people have children before they have become a positive role model for themselves. Life isn’t perfect, so there will be times when parents mess up, but the correcting can be learning. As long as the out of control times are few and far between, then there will be an understanding with the children about them.

Parenting has another fun aspect which includes watching your children grow up, and dealing with personality changes that are not so favorable. This may be quite a surprise or even a disappointment for many parents, and that is a natural reaction and should not be a cause or concern. As the children change, parents sometimes become disgruntled, many times finding themselves disliking their own children because of it. If you suddenly realize your growing child has natural personality traits that present a challenge for you, we urge you to be accepting of it. Yes, this can be difficult at times to live with, but the healthiest response is to be accepting and loving toward your children.

A key to being a great parent is to be aware of your child, how they are feeling, and what they’re struggling with; only by doing this can you successfully help them in a positive way. Solid, mutual and positive communications are essential so possible issues do not escalate.
