Mudding Trucks Used In The New Sport Of Mud Bogging

By Wayne Allen

There’s a new sport taking place in many rural areas of the country. Called “mud bogging, ” it’s a way to bring a little excitement to what may sometimes be a somewhat staid rural existence. Of course, the sport needs trucks to take place. And that’s where mudding trucks used in the new sport of mud bogging come into play. The essence of the sport is big 4×4 trucks going wild in the deep mud.

Nowadays, the sport has grown so popular that there is an actual league and events held all over the country. This sort of activity differs from just taking a truck and going out on a 4×4 excursion, also. This is because it takes place in a bog or trench of certain length and will need a powerful truck that has been fitted for this purpose. Usually, these kinds of trucks are known as “boggers.”

Above everything else, any good truck used in bogging will require a powerful engine, and there’s no disputing that fact. This is because one will be deliberately maneuvering a lift-kitted 4×4 truck into a deep and relatively long muddy trench. A very strong motor will be needed to get that truck into and out of these trenches, some of which are up to a mile in length.

Generally speaking, the right kind of bogger has to be set up correctly and in order to prevent the engine from basically destroying itself while it’s powering the truck through these trenches or bogs, from one end or side to the other. And it must be able to do so without any outside assistance. The match is lost if the bogger gets “bogged down” or stuck. This is why a high-rise body and frame is needed, also.

When looking at mudding trucks, make sure that any of them being considered as a strong lift kit that has raised the height of the truck sufficient to give it a good chance of making its way through a deep trench. Also, check out the tires to make sure that they are large enough and not be enough to give the truck enough traction so that the engine can do its part in moving it quickly through the trench.

Lastly, check out the transmission to make sure it can handle the power transfer from the engine to the tires on these mudding trucks . When one considers that one will be maneuvering a heavy truck into a deep and muddy trench, one will be surprised if the truck doesn’t get stuck. Fortunately, trucks like these enjoy hurling themselves into the muck and mire that mud bogging trenches really are.

Growing up in a rural area of the backwoods you have to create your own entertainment. That is where mud bogging comes in. You need good strong mudding trucks to participate in this past time. Strong mudding trucks are needed or else you will get stuck in some very deep mud.
