Many people think they need to throw away old furniture just because it doesn’t have that shine it used to have. However, tossing furniture out like this is very wasteful, and chances are that you are getting rid of furniture you like. You do not have to throw out dull wooden furniture any longer.
For this example, think of some piece of wooden furniture that you have laying around the house that you are thinking of getting rid of.
Start by disassembling your furniture if it is possible. This will let you work much more effectively because you won’t be getting caught up in the corners.
Find the right kind of paint or stain stripper for your furniture and start to apply the product according to the manufacturer’s instructions on the back of the container. Each product is different, and has different application and removal procedures.
After you have removed all the old stain or paint, the next step is to apply a new finish to your piece of furniture. After the wood has completely dried from the removal process, then you can apply the new coating. Waiting will help to protect the integrity of the wood.
The wood needs to dry again before you should reassemble the furniture once again.
Many people often don’t remember they can choose to simply follow this option, but it is the best one. It gives the freedom to choose what kind of color or style you want and create the look just right for you.
Because there are a lot of various ways to refinish furniture, the sky is the limit in terms of design options and styles. Think about applying an antique finish to the piece to add some character. Remember to make this an enjoyable process and have fun restoring and giving life to a perfectly good piece of wood.
