When Toddlers Reach The Age Of Three

By Kimberly Hancock

Celebrating third birthday is not just an ordinary occasion or gathering rather it’s a very important function and a glorious period of one’s life. Parents, on one side are glad for this but on the other hand they feel more concerned about what lies in future.

Speaking all the time, trying to articulate longer sentences, demonstrating an increased vocabulary all are considered to be a good signs of age 3. It is the time when a kid rapidly understands the basic skills that are essentials of growing period. At this time, the kid must be motivated and praised off for his actions.

Though at age 3, most of the kids are potty trained yet there are chances of setbacks e.g. peeing on the bed which may remain intact till the age of four or five. Besides, at this age they start learning the basics of letters and numbers.

An interest in learning colours is also generated in this age and mostly kids are able enough to tell their age by raising three fingers of hand.

The art of familiarizing with social skills also starts at this age. If a kid attends any daycare or preschool, then he very well demonstrates and understands that other kids in class are his/her friends.

At this age, whatever time the kids spent with other children for them that’s highly appreciable. Although, they do not have the exact knowledge of what friendship is but some of them also make imaginary friends, however, it is not something to be bothered about.

Playing with toys and stuffed animals helps in working out emotional disagreements and it’s a usual part of regular development. Play time plays an essential role at this age as it is quite helpful as a remedial agent.

Hanging with or griping any security object is also a normal part of this age and quite okay as well. Parents of 3 years old, sometimes feel like stuck up with hectic routine of keeping an eye on kids but in reality it pays off well later.
