How Do I Keep My Wife From Leaving? What You Can Do Right Now

By Richard Breban

When the woman you love says she is leaving, your world is immediately thrown into emotional chaos. Trying to keep your wife from leaving can cause you to panic, leading to all kinds of irrational behaviour, and driving a deeper wedge between you both. Don’t despair, there is something you can do, that at the very least will make her think twice.

It will be an extremely hard thing to do during this difficult time, but try not to panic. Panic is your worst enemy if you want to repair your relationship. The only way you will be able to change anything about the situation you are in is to remain calm and rational. Understandably, this is going to be much easier said than done, but if you can it will help you enormously. If, as is normally the case, you are both constantly arguing and fighting, the very best thing you can do for the time being is to take a time out. Taking a break from each other and the constant emotional warfare is the key to to changing her mind. For the time being, respect her wishes and give her some space. If possible, a few days apart is always a good idea, it will give you both time to reflect on the reasons behind your troubles.

The trick at this time is to respect her wishes, if you are constantly trying to change her mind, it will only push her further away. Psychologically, this is the exact opposite of what you are doing and what she would expect from you. This act tells her that you agree with her decision rather than opposing her will. If you can find the emotional strength to do this, you will have taken a solid step in the right direction. Don’t expect anything to happen overnight, just try and keep strong and give her some time to think about your absence and your willingness to see her point of view.

Remaining calm and giving your partner some time to think is the key to changing her mind, or at the very least, giving her a reason to wonder if she is doing the right thing. At Mend A Relationship you will find the next steps to take in hopefully getting her to stay.
