My Cheating Ex Wants A Second Chance – Is It Worth The Risk?

By T Dub Jackson

A second chance is worth the risk. If couples would go on with their lives without giving second chances then this world would be so unforgiving. Yes, cheating is a grave marital issue. It destroys not only the relationship, but also the people within the circle especially the children. In everything we do, we risk one thing or another. Giving him a second chance is a significant jump in the relationship.

The Power of Trial Separation

For marriages which have been harmed by infidelity issues, some couples opt for a trial separation. As a personal arrangement, you may want to have a break because it is dangerous to decide when the memory is still fresh and new.

Breaking up may not be the best choice now, so pack your things and go away for the time being. This trial separation will give you more time to think about everything and whether or not you are going to stay married or choose divorce.

Do get some distance. Do take a little time for yourself to see what it is that you really want from this situation. Do set a firm time limit for your trial separation and have your decision ready by the end of that period of time.

Where do I Begin?

If you have made up your mind that your cheating ex spouse really deserves that golden ‘second chance’ then how do you begin sorting it all out? Start with number One. You might be really excited to have your cheating ex back into your lonely nights, but don’t get excited or you will surely end up barking on the wrong tree.

Take advantage of the time. You should test the waters first before you dive in your head. Calm your heart and start writing each step. A hasty decision will never end up first-rate unless you plan each stride.

Trusting someone again after a cheating issue does not happen overnight. Try to hold back your excitement first. This is not the time to open up fully to your ex for a second chance. Since you’re still examining his sincerity, it is better for you to observe first so you can really weigh the whole thing – if giving him a second try is worth the risk.

Plan to Forgive, Forget, and Move Forward

Getting back together does not happen out of the blue. It exists only to those who have decided to forgive the bleak past, let go of cheating memories, and choosing to move on towards a brighter future. If you are still holding to the emotional baggage left by the issue, you will never ever have the beauty and the power of what a ‘second chance’ can give. Choosing to forgive, forget and moving on is necessary and will absolutely help the two of you improve yourselves, your career, and your marriage life.
