It is a difficult thing, losing someone you love. Basically everyone will experience this from time to time, to a greater or lesser degree. Whether you are married or just dating, being rejected is very painful and difficult to deal with. There may, however, be some things you can do to get your ex back.
Understand that every situation is different, so some of the more extreme break ups might simply be impossible to repair. The chances of repairing the relationship will depend on the bond between the two parties and the things that caused the break up. There are some things, no matter the situation, that can help lead you back together.
A very important step, not only for this relationship but for your personal well being, is discovering the reasons the break up occurred. By exploring the cause of the break up, you can either fix the relationship, or prevent similar heartbreaks in the future. Whatever it takes, figure out the reasons for the split and begin making steps to fix the issues.
Think of how you may have changed over the course of your relationship, and compare it to who you were when you first got together. The person you were in the beginning is the person that he or she fell for, so try and get back to that person. Figure out what made you appealing initially, and work these traits back into your life.
If possible, retain an open and civil line of communication. The individual may not want to talk to you and might ask for some space. If so, be sure and give them the space they need. At the same time, make them aware that you will be available, should they decide that they need to talk. Also ideal is giving them an invitation to something without stress, like a lunch or a cup of coffee.
Unfortunately, there are no real formulas for getting back the one you love. With all of the possible variables that go into a break up, it can be very difficult to figure out what can repair it. These basic steps are a great starting point to repairing the relationship and paving the road to reconciliation.
